Zoo tiger death: Victim named as Rosa King

A zoo-keeper who died after a tiger entered an enclosure at a wildlife park in Cambridgeshire has been named as 33-year-old Rosa King.

The passing occurred at Hamerton Zoo Park, close Huntingdon, at around 11:15 BST on Monday. 

Companion Garry Chisholm, a natural life picture taker in his extra time, said she was the "point of convergence" and "sparkling light" of the untamed life stop. 

The zoo said it was an oddity mishap, and police said it was not suspicious. 

Mr Chisholm, 59, of Irchester, Northamptonshire, said the natural life stop rotated around the zoo-attendant. 

"Rosa wasn't only a manager at Hamerton Zoo - she was Hamerton Zoo," he said. 

"She was unquestionably the main issue of it, the point of convergence of it. She was the sparkling light of it. 

"Her energy for the creatures in her care was excellent however her top choices were without a doubt the cheetahs which she would allude to as her pride and happiness. 

"She will be enormously missed, not simply by me, but rather by everybody who came to know her. 

"The main relief I can take from today's sad occasions is that Rosa is presently rejoined with her darling Ares the cheetah, and Blizzard and Ladybelle, her cherished tigers." 

'Heard her shout' 

Subside Davis, who was at the zoo with his family, said he had heard a "bustle" close to the nook where Ms King was assaulted. 

"There was a person at the nook where the occurrence happened and he came running past me. He was taking photos so he kept running off to get some assistance for something, we didn't recognize what. 

"The following moment about six zoo guardians came running down to the walled in area." 

"At that point, one of the young ladies, we simply heard her shout. Furthermore, one of the young ladies yelled 'run'. So a couple of us kept running into one of the zoo managers' little rooms by the conclusion," he said. 

'Tossing meat' 

His gathering was held in that space for around 10 minutes until they were given the all reasonable.

Another guest to the zoo, who did not wish to be named, told the BBC: "We got to the zoo at opening time, around 11:45.

A Cambridgeshire Police representative stated: "A tiger had entered a nook with a manager. Tragically the female zoo attendant kicked the bucket at the scene." 

Guests were driven far from the zoo. At no time did the creature escape from the walled in area, said police. 

Officers researching the demise said it was "not accepted to be suspicious", and that the tiger included was "accepted to be fine". 

Hamerton Zoo Park said in an announcement: "This seems to have been an oddity mischance. 

"At no time amid the episode did any creatures get away from their walled in areas and at no time was open security influenced in any capacity. 

"Every one of our contemplations and sensitivities are with our partners, loved ones at this terrifying time. 

"The recreation center will be shut from tomorrow, 30 May, and we will give more data when we can." 


The natural life stop said an examination was under way.
